Book review: The life we almost had - Amelia Henley

Title: The life we almost had
Author: Amelia Henley
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Description:
This is not a typical love story, but it’s our love story.
Anna wasn’t looking for love when Adam swept her off her feet but there was no denying their connection, and she believed they would be together forever.
Years later, cracks have appeared in their relationship. Anna is questioning whether their love can really be eternal when a cruel twist of fate delivers a crushing blow, and Anna and Adam are completely lost to one another. Now, Anna needs Adam more than ever, but the way back to him has life-changing consequences.

Is a second chance at first love really worth the sacrifice? Anna needs to decide and time is running out…

My opinion:
Not typical love story, that's for sure.
When I found out who Amelia Henley is I knew it's going to be an extraordinary story.
The beginning is very predictable, heartbroken Anna falls in love with a handsome man who saves her from drowning.
A holiday romance turned into strong, loving relationship. Only that it wasn't as strong as it seemed. Anna and Adam start drifting more and more apart. They decide to give each other a second chance and fix all the cracks to their love. And then, by the twist of fate they they become even more detached.
I can't lie, I was going through very strong emotions while reading this book. I was happy, heartbroken, hopeful and hopeless. All at the same time. I wanted to finish the book as quick ans possible and at the same time I didn't want it to end. It took me a day to read it. I have a feeling I'll have a long book hangover after this one.
I loved the scientific plot, even though I thought it's a bit unrealistic.
As I said at the beginning, it's not a typical love story, so even it's romance is not your favourite genre, give it a try!
